Fast forward to now. It's spring break and my friends have kindly decided to fuck off and leave me with a lot of free time. I rediscovered my print-out of the game and, having nothing better to do, decided to try and rewrite it.
So, here you go. Many thanks to Jennie Kermode for giving me
something to play with.

Introduction First off, if you don't know what Goth is, I'm not going to tell you because, honestly, there is no hard definition for what the mentality or the lifestyle is. It's different for each person. So before you play sit down and think about what parts you don't agree with and change it. I know enough about Goth and role playing games to try and take a swing at this, but I won't pretend to be an expert. Anyway, this game is about Goths, (in case you couldn't figure that out.) the lifestyle and the forces that oppose them. It's about trying to hold on to what you are. It's about sitting your friends down one perfectly good day to roll dice and suck up pizza like they're going to ban it. Role playing, to the uninitiated, is where you create a character and interact in a fictional world created by one player, from here on out referred to as the Ubergoth. The Ubergoth tells the players what they see, smell, taste, and touch and the rest of the group reacts to the setting. There is no winning and losing, though admittedly letting the evil occultists destroy the world tends to the lean toward the latter. The game is about getting into the character and challenging the world to stay alive. Note: Let it be known that the storytelling player(s)
will hereupon be known as Ubergoths. Thank you, I just
needed to get that out of my system. |
Announcements
4.26.2000 Adding a couple graphics, uberspecial thanks to Andrew Koorey. Expect more in the near future. With that inspiration, you can possibly expect a Players Guide in the next year or so (hopefully sooner), in which we'll describe in more detail: character classes, clans, gothic superpowers, etc, and maybe throw in some fiction and/or scenarios just for fun. In fact, we may combine it with the planned Ubergoth Guide and just make it a full add-on, depends on how inspired we are, and I should probably discuss this with Joe first anyway. Heh.
By the way: you too can create art for Goth: the Corruption. Anything gothy, really. If you do photoshoppy tweaking stuff (like the above image) that's great, but not mandatory. If not, digital scans of line drawings are fine. If you wanna be uberspecial, try drawing pictures of the classes/clans, because that's what I'm particularly looking for. But random doodles and sketches of no particular relevance to anything other than being gothy is perfectly fine. Send email inquiries and submissions to me with maybe a brief description of what the hell yer sending me, and Goth: the Corruption Stuff (or something along those lines) in the subject line.2.28.2000 Latest update. Should be able to get everything up tonight. Meaning, the full game, after 3 years of waiting, will be available to all the internet. Be sure and check the downloads section below and download a copy of the GtheC character sheet in .pdf format, as well as a pre-made character (Morpheus, my character, actually, who, after the last GtheC game I ran, crossed genres and is now an awakened Mage...)

There is a Goth: The Corruption mailing list. Okay, well, it's
not solely for and about the game, in fact if I say that I'd be
pulling my own chain, I don't expect it to be about the game, but
it is run by me. So you can subscribe here.
