NAVAL BATTLE '04
(yes, it's on)
- WHEN: July 3rd (thats a saturday) at noon. yes, in the daytime. Deal with it.
- WHERE: Shoreline Lake in Mountain View, down in the south bay (click the linky for directions and official price info and stuffs...duh). It's a big lake, they encourage our kind of foolishness, and we get a very large area to play in, all good things. And the guy who does the sailing lessons likes to do "sail by" shootings of random goth pirates.
- WHY: because it is massively fun, and a good way to get out and meet folks, by shooting them in the head meats with high powered water cannon.
- WHAT TO BRING: yourselfs, big water cannon, (homemade, or otherwise, supersoakers are always fun). Food. Drink. There are many places to picnic at the site, and we'll be doing that afterwards. There is also a restaurant and bar at the site as well.
- TYPE OF BOATS AVAILABLE: we have paddleboats, kayaks, and the occaisional sailboat available to us, so something for everyone.
- RULES: uh, yeah. right. even if I told you, you'd probably break them anyway. But, in the interests of us NOT getting sued, here they are. It would be a good idea to obey them, regardless. Since breaking them can get us all banned from the lake, and that would be bad. The actions of a few meatheads can bring everyone down, don't be a meathead.
- DO NOT leave your boat.
- DO NOT leave things like waterballoon skins or other debris on the lake. (trash is bad for ducks, we like ducks)
- PFD’s (lifejackets) are mandatory on the lake and are included with all rentals.
- Certification required for all sailboat and windsurfer rentals. They accept US Sailing, ASA, yacht club, and lesson program cards or you may take a written test.
- Rentals are for a minimum of 1 hour. Time over an hour is pro-rated.
- Deposit of credit card required for all rentals except pedalboats.
- All equipment must be returned to the site from which it was rented or a $25 fee will incur.
- A rescue fee of $25 will be charged to those vessels requiring a rescue (this includes assistance with capsizes).
- Prices are 13$ per hour for single person kayaks, 14$ per hour for pedal boats, and 15 dollars per hour for double kayaks.
- DO see the lake's website if you have any other questions. You can also find contact info for the lake staff there, and they are exceptionally friendly and willing to give you any other info you might need.
- SUGGESTIONS: use common sense, DRESS UP (costumes are always better), try not to drown. If you do, it's your own damn fault, and we will laugh at you. If you can't swim, or have issues with salt water or getting wet, this probably aint for you, otherwise, all are welcome.
