The GGPET e-list is a community of friendly fetish freaks in the San Francisco bay area. The list is a fairly low traffic announcement and discussion list centered mainly on planning, meeting up for, and talking about local BDSM/fetish events. (FYI, BDSM is a short acronym for Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, and Sadism & Masochism.) The name of the list comes from the Great Goth Power Exchange Takeovers, which is our seasonal convergence of gothic and fetish people at a local BDSM/sex club called the Power Exchange. GGPETs (and the other events we host or support) provide a nice introduction to BDSM in general (and often the Power Exchange in specific), which can otherwise be a scary and confusing experience. Although it's not the main focus of the e-list, the group often gets together for other non-fetish events as well (both goth and non-goth.) This is a "No lurker list" - meaning that everybody joining is expected to actually come out to GGPET (goth fetish) events and hopefully get involved in any online discussions about them as well. Those people that do not post nor come out to the events will be asked to unsubscribe until they are able to do so. Our group loves meeting new people. Unfortunately, in order to preserve the intimacy of the group, our sign up process is a little backwards. What we do is have people come out to events to meet, ask questions, and hang out with some of the other GGPETters before we actually sign them up. There's no requirement that you be really experienced in the BDSM scene or that you be a hardcore goth (as long as you're goth friendly), but it is required that you are sincerely interested in both scenes and enjoy going to those types of events with other like-minded people. The GGPET/Fetishgoth/Gen-Xer Munch is a great place to meet GGPETters and find out what is going on in the fetish/BDSM community. If this sounds like you, send an email to Jason ( squee@sfgoth.com) and mention what you're current background is in the BDSM scene. This is not to gauge whether you are qualified to join the group (introducing ppl to the scene is a big part of what we do), it's just so that he can recommend some upcoming events appropriate to your experience in the scene where you can meet up with some of the current members. Again, this won't be any excrutiating interview process, we just want to make sure you actually do come out to these places and understand that everything we do is safe, sane, consensual, and fun! Hope to hear from you. -jason |
